 SELOC/PFO Bowling Competition

The bowling competition finally went ahead on Saturday after a rain-enforced delay of 12 months! All those who attended had a great time and learnt a thing or two about bending balls! Unfortunately, we lost to PFO 18 points 14. Many of us went off to the pub afterwards to continue socialising.

Bolton Club Night

In May we have two bank holidays and therefore there will only be 2 Bolton club nights this month. Both will be at Jumbles Reservoir as we head away from Eagley Junior School on the Summer Tour. Over the next few months we will be found outside in local parks and countryside across the north of Manchester - so you will have to keep an eye on this website to guarantee the latest details of where we are.

Caroline is very interested to hear from you if you would like to be involved in organising a session This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

SELOC Membership Profile

The committee has been undertaking some analyses of the membership to help us better understand where members live and the age profile of the club. The hope is that this will aid decision making when we plan our events and activities.

SELOC Winner at JK

We may only have made a small showing at the Jan Kjellstrom (JK) 2013 but our members that did make the journey to the south of England over Easter weekend did very well indeed.

Elspeth Ingleby continued her early year success at the Compass Sport Trophy winning her W21L class on both days, whilst Tony Davies was eighth overall on the M65L. Steve Round had a strong second day to finish 65th overall in the M60L class.

This bodes well for the other national events coming up in the coming months. First up will be the British Sprint and Middle Championships (20/21 April), then the British Championship (4/5 May). Quite a few club members will be heading up to Scotland for the Scottish 6 days (July 28 to August 3).

This is advanced warning about our really exciting, premier events of the year. On Saturday June 15th we are having a very large urban event based in Salford Quays. Competitors on the longest courses will travel by Metrolink to Manchester before racing back via Spinningfields, Castlefield Locks and Ordsall Hall. Other courses will be contained within Salford Quays with registration and the finish for all courses being outside Media City.

On Sunday June 16th we are having a double sprint with rural prologue in Lever Park and then a mass start sprint in Horwich town centre, as part of the Horwich Festival of Racing. Please put these dates in your diary now!

Club Night - GPS Training

Have you thought about getting yourself a GPS tracker to use whilst orienteering? Do you really want to know where you went? Come and find out about how to use the GPS equipment club night has. Loans available to SELOC members. The session on 11th March at Eagley School will look at using GPS trackers and uploading the routes produced into the orienteering software RouteGadget.

As a follow up session we will have a small street event in Bromley Cross on Monday 18th March. GPS trackers will be issued so you can record your routes.
